New Resource Historical Texts

Historical Texts comprises three collections: Early English Books Online (EEBO), Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO) and British Library 19th Century Collection (BL). Access is via the My learning / Learning support pages in the portal on and off campus.

Key sources
From the first book printed in English by William Caxton to Newton's Principia Mathematica; various works by Shakespeare; important works from authors such as Voltaire, John Milton, Sir William Blackstone, Captain James Cook; and classics such as A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, Mansfield Park and Emma by Jane Austen, The Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Languages
Works cover a range of languages from English to Dutch, French, German, Italian, Latin, Ancient Greek, Spanish and Welsh.

Subject coverage includes English literature, history, geography, philosophy, linguistics, theology, law, music, fine arts, education, mathematics and science.

Booking Group Study Rooms in Stockwell Street and Avery Hill Libraries

There are group study rooms at Stockwell Street Library and Avery Hill Library for students to book. 

At Stockwell Street there are 10 rooms in total - 5 on the 1st floor and 5 on the 2nd floor. 
At Avery Hill there are 4 rooms in total - 2 inside the library and 2 just outside the library behind the security desk.

Rooms can be booked via the portal. Just log in and go to the Library & Computing tab; select the Book/Cancel a room link in the Library Group Study Rooms channel and follow the steps from there. 

New Resource Drama Online

Drama Online is a fantastic new resource for literature and drama students. It hosts drama titles from Methuen Drama, Arden Shakespeare, and Faber and Faber. Includes full-text access to approximately 1,000 plays and over 100 critical and practical works, and features a number of interactive Play Tools. This video gives you an overview of the resource. It can be accessed on and off campus via the My learning / Learning support pages in the portal.

New Resource Oxford Competition Law

Oxford Competition Law is a great resource for law and criminology students. It provides an invaluable suite of competition analysis, including key commentaries in EU competition law, fully linked with national case reports and source material. It can be accessed on and off campus via the My learning / Learning support pages in the portal.

Open Access PCs at the Greenwich campus

Need to find a PC at Greenwich campus? You can find them at these locations.

The Stockwell Street Library houses 165 PCs. These are spread across all floors of the building, with a 44 PC silent computing area on the 3rd floor.

187 PCs on the 2nd floor of the Dreadnought building (Rooms: D250, D245 & D215. D245 is primarily a teaching lab, but the PCs are available for general use when the lab is not booked)

103 PCs on the 4th floor of Queen Mary building (Room QM446 is primarily a teaching lab, but the PCs are available for general use when the lab is not booked)

72 PCs on the 2nd floor of Queen Anne building. The PCs are situated in the circulation space. 

All PCs are configured for network printing, and you will be able to collect your work from the nearest Multi-Function Device. Print credit top-up facilities are available on the ground floor of the Stockwell Street Library and in room D250 in Dreadnought building.

Please note that Dreadnought, Queen Mary and Queen Anne buildings are open from: · 8am - 9pm Mon-Fri 

11am - 5pm at weekends.

Borrowing books

Have you borrowed any books yet? When you're ready to borrow books for your studies, come and see us at one of our Welcome Desks. We can show you how to use the self-service machines. You can borrow multiple items by placing them together in the slot and then scanning your student ID card. The machine will issue the items to your library account. Any items in red or items not issued can be dealt with by us at the Welcome Desk. You can choose to print out a receipt of the transaction. At Avery Hill and the Drill Hall Library the self-service machines are used to borrow and return your loaned items.

Renewing your books

You can renew your books via the self-service machines in the libraries, directly from the Library Catalogue https://capitadiscovery.co.uk/greenwich-ac/login and from the Log in to My Library Account link in the Library & Computing/IT tab in the portal with your student ID or staff number.
